Biodesign Internship Connect

Overview

HealthTech 2023

The Stanford Byers Center for Biodesign partners with Stanford Students in Biodesign/Biopharma (SSB) to offer the Biodesign Internship Connect (BIC) program. SSB is Stanford's preimer on-campus student organization, consisting of more than 200 engineering and life science undergraduate and graduate students focused on careers in health tech.

BIC is designed to match health technology companies and labs in the Biodesign community with top Stanford students who can play an important role in moving projects forward within an organization.

For employers, the program provides direct access to some of the best and brightest Stanford students with a demonstrated interest in health technology and innovation. Students come from academic areas across Stanford, including bioengineering, biomedical computation, computer science, data science, human biology, the “hard sciences,” and more. Many have participated in a Stanford Biodesign course or program.

For students, BIC provides unparalleled internship opportunities to help them build careers in health tech, biotech, digital health, and other life science domains. The companies and labs have a Stanford Biodesign connection and generally are committed to helping train the next generation of leaders in health technology innovation.

Key Dates and Deadlines

  • Employers: Use the links/buttons below to post your jobs NOW for students to review. Students seek internships early and will start applying in October/November 2023.
  • Students: Begin actively monitoring the BIC platform and submitting your interest in specific internship positions. Note that the application process will close on March 1, 2024. Jobs will be offered on a rolling basis, so apply early.

How The Process Works

  1. A company or lab posts open positions on the BIC platform.
  2. Students in the SSB club are notified of each posting or can browse them online.
  3. Students submit a company or lab application (with a cover letter and resume) through the BIC platform.
  4. Employers are notified via email that there are student applications to review.
  5. Employers review applications, interview candidates of interest, and make offers to those who are the best fit. Jobs are removed from the platform as they are filled.
  6. Students accept or decline the offers by the date specified in the offer letter.
  7. Employers and students close the loop with Stanford Biodesign to confirm a successful match!
