We believe that legislative action is necessary to accelerate health technology innovation for children. We are actively developing strategies to promote such change. Below are some of our efforts to date.

SHIP-MD

The Impact1 team participated in the strategy workshops for the establishment of SHIP-MD: System of Hospitals for Innovation In Pediatrics – Medical Devices. SHIP-MD aims to create a national collaboration to de-risk and accelerate the development process of pediatric devices.

FDA Public Meeting

In August 2018, the FDA held an Open Meeting on pediatric device development with the goal of identifying strategies to enhance device development and innovation for children. Stanford Biodesign’s James Wall was one of the meeting’s presenters, offering clarification on early product development mechanisms and ideas for improving pediatric device development.
