About Impact1

Too many pediatric patients and pregnant women are cared for with tools that were not designed with their unique needs in mind. While health technology continues to advance rapidly, fewer innovations are developed and approved specifically for child and maternal health—leaving clinicians, families, and patients without access to solutions that could improve care.

Impact1 is working to change that!

Born out of Stanford Biodesign, the program brings together clinicians, engineers, entrepreneurs, and experts across the health innovation ecosystem to accelerate high-impact innovations for pediatric and maternal health—from early ideas to technologies that can reach the patients who need them most.

Impact1 focuses on three pillars:

• We accelerate pediatric and maternal health technologies by providing strategic mentorship, expert networks, and non-dilutive funding support
  

• We Innovate by identifying unmet needs and helping build self-sustaining ventures that can move from concept to patients
  
• We advocate by amplifying voices, presenting evidence for change, and convening stakeholders to strengthen the global innovation ecosystem.

Impact Since 2019

Since 2019, Impact1 has supported more than 270 projects across industry and academia, spanning 27 countries on 6 continents. These efforts have helped innovators reach over 103,000 patients, raise $280 million in funding, and create 569 full-time jobs.
