Emergence Partnership

Overview

Birds

Emergence is a new initiative intended to inspire, educate, and support Stanford students and researchers in tackling global systemic challenges that affect the health of society and the planet through science-based and purpose-driven entrepreneurship.

Conceived by adjunct professor Narges Baniasadi, the program was launched in collaboration with Stanford Bioengineering. It is now advancing in partnership with the Stanford Byers Center for Biodesign with a preliminary focus on societal health, health equity, and health technology innovation to improve lives everywhere, for everyone.

Together, Emergence and Stanford Biodesign will create and deliver relevant educational programs to develop the next generation of socially-conscious leaders. We also will build an ecosystem of partnerships and funding opportunities to catalyze and scale projects and companies that prioritize equity, impact, and sustainability.

The first joint offering will be a new course for Stanford graduate students (in spring 2022) called BioE 39X: Purposeful Entrepreneurship – Innovate for Societal Health. Read more on the courses section of our website.
