Since 2001 Dr. Chou has been an executive at Abbott Vascular, and most recently was the General Manager of their vessel closure business. During his tenure at Abbott, Dr. Chou managed the IDE study, the PMA process, and the global launch of the StarClose femoral closure device. In addition, he was a member of the business development team that executed Abbott Vascular strategic transactions including the alliance with Medtronic covering drug eluting stent technology, and the acquisitions of Integrated Vascular Systems, Mednova, the Jomed cardiovascular assets, and the Biocompatibles cardiovascular franchise. Prior to joining Abbott, Dr. Chou was the Director of the Adult Cardiac Cath Lab at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) where he remains Associate Professor of Medicine. Dr. Chou received his M.D. from Case Western Reserve University and B.S. in Physics and Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
