Professor Delp joined the Stanford faculty in 1999. He was previously on the faculty in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Northwestern University. He worked at Hewlett Packard's Graphics Workstation Division from 1983-1985. He has authored over 100 journal articles, book chapters, and conference papers and is on the editorial boards of five major journals. He received his BS from Colorado State, his MS and PhD from Stanford University, all in Mechanical Engineering. He is interested in the form and function of complex living systems ranging from molecular motors to persons with movement disorders. Seeking fundamental understanding of the mechanisms involved in the production of movement, he is motivated to improve treatments for individuals with cerebral palsy, stroke, osteoarthritis, and Parkinson?s disease. While research and education are my primary activities, he also is involved in the development of new biomedical technologies and devices.
