Russell Woo received his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from USC in 1996. His undergraduate research, for which he received a USC Merit Research Award, focused on the development of a real-time physiologic monitoring system for sleep apnea studies. After college, Russell attended the Yale University School of Medicine where he received an M.D. in 2000. During medical school, he completed a medical thesis investigating the biological effects of carbon dioxide pneumoperitoneum on human colon cancer cells in vitro. Russell is currently a General Surgery Resident at Stanford University Medical Center. Russell recently completed a research fellowship investigating the application and development of surgical robotics for use in pediatric surgery. He followed this with the Biodesign Innovation Fellowship working on new devices for use in neurosurgery and neurology. Russell has completed his clinical residency and is in specialty training in pediatric surgery at UCLA.
