Lucile Packard Fellow, 2008-09
Ruey is the Fellowship Head for the Singapore-Stanford Biodesign (SSB) Program, a medtech innovation training program adapted from Stanford University. As Fellowship Head, Ruey runs the Asian phase of the SSB Fellowship and directs the training program of the SSB NUS-NTU Class. Concurrently, Ruey is an Entrepreneur-In-Residence for the A*STAR Healthcare & Lifestyle office where he proposes and manages medtech projects towards commercialization, including projects from Greater Boston as part of the A*STAR-CIMIT (Center for Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technology) collaboration. Previously, Ruey is a founding member, IP and R&D Manager of Voyage Medical, a venture backed medical device startup developing new treatments for atrial fibrillation under direct visualization.

Ruey was named the Lucile Parkard Fellow 08/09 of Stanford University's Biodesign Program where innovations he and his team developed led to 2 spin-off companies - Orpheus Medical and Pelvalon Inc. Ruey started his career in Silicon Valley as an R&D engineer with startup USGI Medical developing NOTES (natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery) devices for gastrointestinal diseases.

Ruey is an inventor on 45 US patents and applications, and the winner of both the Silicon Valley Boomers and the Stanford E-Challenge business plan competitions.

Ruey graduated from the National University of Singapore with a B.Eng (Mechanical), a Minor in Technopreneurship and the NUS Achievement Award in Enterprise. Ruey was named Singapore's Top 50 Youths to Watch in 2005 by Straits Times.
