Alok R. Ray, PhD is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering and joint Professor of Polymer Science and Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. He is also concurrently Professor at All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India.
Dr Ray has devoted his research to develop biocompatible materials for medical applications, which include drug delivery devices, catheters, contact lens and other medical implants. For this, he has used locally available natural materials like chitin, Alginate, Gum Arabica and Tamarind Seed Polysaccharide and has also developed several new synthetic materials.
Dr. Ray has made significant contribution to the understanding the surface interactions of biological molecules and cells with synthetic materials in the living system.
Dr. Ray has developed nine biomedical products and has published over 100 articles in professional journals.
