Mridusmita is a biomedical engineer with Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark ? New Jersey where she joined on a Provost Fellowship and graduated as a member of Alpha Epsilon Lambda (AEL), National Graduate Honor Society in 2007. She has a Bachelor of Electronics Engineering from the University of Mumbai. In total, she has over three years of experience in New Product Development, Design Engineering, Application Development, Research and Clinical Engineering.

She is presently working as a Field Clinical Engineer in the Atrial Fibrillation division at St Jude Medical where she is responsible for clinically supporting 3D and 2D electrophysiology studies using the Ensite technology to treat complex arrhythmias like Atrial Fibrillation, Ventricular Tachycardia, Atrial Tachycardia, and flutters for both adult and pediatric patients. She is also involved with marketing, training and development for their proprietary technology.

Prior to this appointment, Mridusmita was working for Herbst Research Inc., an NIH funded R&D company in Edgewater New Jersey as a biomedical engineer where she worked on developing both hardware and software prototypes for various biomedical applications including optical sensors for spectroscopy and biosensor feedback platform technology. As both an intern and later a full time employee she was exposed to different aspects of start-up business like sub contractor management, patent research, feasibility studies and other entrepreneurial responsibilities.

During her Master's degree at NJIT, she worked on several projects including her thesis project on Traumatic Brain Injury where she developed a multi-well neural injury device to simulate the effect of Diffuse Axonal Injury on neurons.

At SIB, Mridusmita is looking forward to leveraging her experience so far to make an impact in the lives of the underprivileged in India and other developing countries. She is particularly interested in creating more liaisons between the medical device industry, educational institutions, and the government to promote development of more affordable medical solutions.

Besides academics, her interests include traveling, photography, exploring new cultures and cuisines. In addition, she is also involved with social service and teaching. Most recently, she was working with the Consortium of Pre College Education in Greater Newark as a Mentor/Tutor to middle school students in Newark and the surrounding areas.

Mridusmita is proud to be a global citizen having grown up in countries around the world including USA, Kenya, Russia, and of course India, and has visited over seventeen other countries and studied in schools all over India and the world.
