Dr. Laufer trained in Trauma Surgery and Emergency Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and Stanford University. Since 1993, he has started more than 16 medical device companies including VNUS (bought by Covidien), NDO Surgical (bought by J&J), Asthmatx (Acquired by Boston Scientific), and Broncus. He is currently a founder and Managing Member of MachLabs, a venture capital and medical device development partnership. He continues to practice Emergency Medicine on the faculty of Stanford University and is on the teaching faculty in the Department of Surgery of Harvard-Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
