James Geriak has been a partner at the law firm of Lyon & Lyon since 1961. Lyon & Lyon has more than 120 patent lawyers in offices in San Jose, Orange County, Los Angeles, San Diego and White Plains, New York. Mr. Geriak has been a principal patent attorney for many medical device companies such as Bentley Laboratories, Spectramed, Bioject, Cardiovascular Imaging Systems, General Surgical Innovations, Embol-X, Endotex, Cardiothoracic Systems, Vidamed and Boston Scientific. As lead counsel, he has successfully defended and enforced patent infringement for medical device companies in a number of patent litigations. He has also been lead counsel in numerous interferences in the United States Patent Office for determination of priority of inventorship with regard to patent applications filed by different inventors. Mr. Geriak earned his Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He earned his J.D., and graduated 3rd in his class, from Georgetown Law School. While in law school he was on the Editorial Staff of the Georgetown Law Journal and was a Patent Examiner at the US Patent Office.
