Mr. Capek was appointed to his current position in March, 2000. Previously, Mr. Capek was the Vice President and General Manager of Guidant?s German operations. In heading Guidant?s German operations, Mr. Capek has successfully managed the company?s largest country affiliation outside of the United States since 1997. Prior to assuming his current position, Mr. Capek served 7 years as Vice President, Marketing, Cardiac Rhythm Management. Mr. Capek joined Eli Lilly and Company in 1987 as a New Product Technology Associate with Lilly?s Medical Devices and Diagnostic division. He later served as Manager of New Product Technology and in 1990 was promoted to Director of New Product Planning. Mr. Capek received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical engineering in 1983, Masters of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering in 1984, Masters of Engineering in Electrical Engineering in 1985, Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering in 1987 and a Master of Business Administration degree in 1987, all from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.
