Fiona Loke , MS
Fellow
Stanford Biodesign Program
Stanford, CA
On a full scholarship from a Singaporean company, Fiona obtained B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University, with an M.S. concentration in medical imaging. She returned to Singapore after graduation to serve the company, beginning with intelligent transport systems now successfully deployed islandwide.
Four years later, Fiona co-founded the iMedical initiative in her company and led a team developing translatable healthcare applications combined with new media. iMedical also promoted healthcare interoperability standards by providing training and through active involvement in local and international standards bodies. As Team Lead, Fiona balanced technical and business development responsibilities, working closely with clinicians to design user-centric systems, as well as with healthcare institutions to secure funding and define commercialization plans.
After serving out her scholarship bond, Fiona recognized an exciting opportunity in the Singapore-Stanford Biodesign programme to be part of the biomedical device start-up scene in Singapore. In addition to research and commercial development, she hopes to explore socially conscious business models for telemedicine in developing countries. Outside work, she is active in church, enjoys dance and jogs regularly.
