In his current position as Vice President, Business Development, David Piacquad is responsible for supporting M&A and VC activity at Johnson & Johnson. In this role he has worked on the acquisitions of Orquest (2003), OraPharma (2003), Inverness Medical ($1.3 bn, 2001), the S. C. Johnson Dermatological Business (1999) and mergers with ALZA ($12.3 bn, 2001) and Centocor ($4.9 bn, 1999). He is on the Board of Directors of J&J?s internal venture capital unit, Johnson & Johnson Development Corp. He has also been involved in building capabilities in the area of post merger integration and in organizing J&J?s annual Business Development Council Meeting. Prior to his current assignment he spent three years in Rochester, New York as Chief Financial Officer for Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics. His prior assignment was Vice President, Licensing & Acquisitions, Worldwide Nonprescription Pharmaceuticals for Johnson & Johnson. In this position, he was responsible for identifying, licensing and acquiring Rx-to-OTC switch candidates. Other experience includes four years with Johnson & Johnson Merck Consumer Pharmaceuticals Company where he served in various roles leading to the position of Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Piacquad was also part of a small team identifying this opportunity, negotiating the joint venture agreement with Merck and building the new business unit. Mr. Piacquad holds a BA degree from Colgate University in Hamilton, New York and an MBA from the Wharton School, Graduate Division of the University of Pennsylvania. He is on the Board of Trustees of the Independent College Fund of New Jersey. He has also served as a judge in the finals of the Wharton Business Plan Competition from 2002-2004.
