Brian Fahey , PhD
Stanford, CA Biodesign Innovation Fellow, 2007-08Brian Fahey was raised and attended high school in Billerica, Massachusetts. He received a B.S. degree in biomedical engineering from Trinity College in Hartford, CT and the Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering from Duke University in Durham, NC. His Ph.D. research involved ultrasound imaging for cancer detection and novel ultrasonic systems and uses. His thesis work focused upon hardware and software developments for a new type of ultrasound-based technique that investigates the mechanical properties of tissues. Many of these technology developments are now deployed in a product manufactured by Siemens Ultrasound. After completing the Biodesign Fellowship, Brian has consulted for three venture-backed medical device start-ups, contributing in areas ranging from ultrasound applications to early-stage concept generation and prototype development.
