Dr. Rideout is currently the Chief Strategy Officer for Certify Data Systems, a venture backed health information technology company based in San Jose, California. Certify Data Systems, a Cisco certified technology partner, provides enterprise solutions to help organizations automate the processing and exchange of all types of healthcare information across disparate systems. In his role with Certify, Dr. Rideout provides strategic, policy, business development and clinical support to customers and solution partners, as well as representing the company and its products to the healthcare industry. Dr. Rideout also provides advisory and consulting services to healthcare corporations and venture backed companies, such as Healthsense, a provider of remote sensing devices and monitoring software that support independent living. Dr. Rideout is also a faculty member of the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, and teaches on topics related to healthcare technology, services and innovation. Previously Dr. Rideout was the global leader of healthcare division for Cisco Systems Internet Business Solutions Group, and Cisco?s Chief Medical Officer. As the global leader of Cisco?s Internet Business Solutions Group Healthcare Practice, Dr. Rideout worked with health care and public sector leaders to help them use technology to accelerate transformation of the health care industry. Dr. Rideout also served as Cisco?s Chief Medical Officer. In this role Dr. Rideout provided strategic leadership for health benefit value purchasing decisions for Cisco?s 65,000 employees and dependents worldwide, and represented Cisco on the Board of Directors for the Pacific Business Group on Health. Dr. Rideout was also responsible for leading a coordinated ?go to market? strategy for Cisco in healthcare, including strategic support for business development, investment and policy decisions regarding healthcare for Cisco. As Cisco?s first industry-specific effort, the healthcare vertical helped accelerate a new organizational construct within Cisco for approaching specific industries, and doubled Cisco?s healthcare related revenue in less than two years. Previously, Dr. Rideout was Chief Medical Officer and SVP for Blue Shield of California. Dr. Rideout was a member of the National Advisory Council for the Robert Wood Johnson/IHI Pursuing Perfection grant program for excellence in health care delivery. Dr. Rideout also served as the Chief Medical Officer for the National Health Care Purchasing Institute, supporting the Institute's $8.8 million Rewarding Results grant program jointly underwritten by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the California Health Care Foundation. Dr. Rideout also served as a member of the American Health Information Community (AHIC?s) Chronic Care Workgroup for the US Department of Health and Human Services and is a member of the newly created National Quality Forum Task Force for Personal Health Records executive briefing series. Dr. Rideout is also a volunteer physician and Board of Directors member for Medical Teams International, an international medical relief organization. Dr. Rideout is a board certified internist, completing his residency training at University of California, San Francisco. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, is an assistant clinical professor at UCSF and a lecturer at the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business. He received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and his undergraduate degree from Stanford University. He also holds a master?s degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Oxford University where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar.
